THE BUTTERFLY CLUB
For children with severe, complex and profound learning disabilities

Welcome to The Butterfly Club
The Butterfly Club aims to provide a holiday club for the children of James MacFarlane and Haysholm special needs schools to reduce their isolation, improve their quality of life and to support them to be able to take part in activities other children take for granted. We are a constituted, non-profit making voluntary community group and a registered charity, formed by the parents of these schools.
SUMMER CLUB 2019
Everything has ran well with this year's summer club and we had lots of happy Butterflies after many months of meetings, planning and interviews as well as a full week of training for the staff. The club was so popular this year with a record 33 Butterflies attending that we now have 3 groups (2 juniors and 1 senior group) in order to fit on the buses. Each Butterfly took part in a range of group and individual activities where they could choose whatever activity they wanted and had their support staff with them on their outing. These range from visits to the shops, a pamper day or a day at the swimming pool.
We had some great activities organised including tubing at the dry ski slopes, a visit to the Transport Museum, All ability cycles followed by a visit to Dean Park, sensory walks with the park rangers at Eglinton Park and even go karting for the seniors. All activities were a success and when the weather was unkind to us we had full use of the hyrdro therapy pool, sensory room, sensory garden and lots of sensory activities within the school.
This year marks our 2nd year working with Cornerstone and their team.
Fundraising Continues .....
As we start our summer club 2019 we need to start thinking about fundraising for summer 2020. We only need £90k for next year lol no pressure. The fundraising committee have been busy and we have already had a marathon and kiltwalk contributions. And our 2017 Racenight was such a success another will take place on 21st June 2019, be sure and pop along and support us.
If you would like to help raise funds, organise events or donate to The Butterfly Club, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the committee, through our Twitter & Facebook page or Donate through our GoFundMe funding page.

We have had varying level of success in the grants we applied for last year and hope to continue to secure enough funds. Without these grants it would be impossible to run the summer club.
